Swan Valley Bear Resources

Bears love the Swan as much as we do, so it’s important to minimize opportunities for conflict with each other. Since 2007, Swan Valley Bear Resources, a collaborative effort of Swan Valley Connections and USFS, has provided resources to landowners and the broader community to promote coexistence between people and bears. SVBR provides property consultations to help landowners identify and secure attractants, assists with electric fence construction to protect small livestock, orchards, and other temptations, and loans out bear-resistant containers free of charge to residents. Community events like the Spring Bear Wakeup Social and Summer Bear Fair welcome everyone to come to the Swan to learn more about living with these magnificent neighbors. Thanks to the generous support of Vital Ground,  U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service,  National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, the Interagency Grizzly Bear Council, and the Montana Livestock Loss Board for supporting SVBR in this important work!
