Every year Swan Valley Bear Resources (SVBR) partners with various agencies and organizations to provide educational events aimed at promoting human-bear coexistence.  On April 12, SVBR hosted a Spring Bear Wake-up Social at the Swan Valley Community Hall that featured presentations by Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks' grizzly bear management specialist Tim Manley and Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes' wildlife biologist Stacy Courville. The event serves as an annual reminder for residents to contain their bear attractants as bears emerge from hibernation. About 70 participants showed up to listen to the fun, informative presentations, enjoy snacks, and Great Northern Brewing Company beer!

Swan Valley Connections has several staff who are members of SVBR, which is a collaborative group that also involves the U.S. Forest Service. Combined, SVBR is able to offer resources that help minimize bear conflicts on both private and public properties, and ultimately work towards its mission of promoting human/bear coexistence in the Swan Valley. Some of the resources available through SVBR are: a bear-resistant garbage container loaner programs, electric fencing program, property consultations, educational materials, informational events, and the Swan Valley Bear Ranger program.

SVBR will be hosting its popular summer event, the Bear Fair, on Saturday June 9th from 12-4 pm at the Swan River Community Hall in the greater Ferndale/Echo Lake/Bigfork area.
