Conservation

Our conservation programs are inspired by our precious natural resources and the people that depend on them.
We engage in projects that support economic activity and natural resource stewardship. The strategies we utilize include restoration, research and monitoring, collaborative management, and both landscape and community-based conservation. Our conservation work forms the basis of experience from which we develop our education programs.

  • Stewardship Services

Check out our services and opportunities to learn about fuels reduction, restoration, insects, and more.

  • Swan Valley Bear Resources

A partnership with a mission to help humans and bears coexist.

  • Research & Monitoring

From rare carnivores to native fish to stream temperatures, we’re collecting data to learn more about our ecosystem.

  • Land Conservation

Protecting habitat and natural resources in perpetuity.

  • Trail Conditions

Working in partnership with backcountry stewards to maintain our many trails along the Mission Mountains Wilderness and Swan Front.

The region's rich natural resource base attracts a wide diversity of stakeholders. Durable conservation harnesses the passion and knowledge of people that live, work, and play on the landscape. We promote collaborative and community-based conservation and provide a place at the table for anyone interested in participating in natural resource management.
